declared bankrupt.

The Ducali are currently being funded until the end of the season after agreeing a deal with the FIGC and Lega Serie A and are looking for a fourth new owner with president Giampietro Manenti arrested for money laundering.

“People like me, who have the privilege of being able to make sport their profession, are fortunate,” the 39-year-old told I Laziali Sono Qua.

“Unfortunately in this world sometimes things happen that are difficult to explain.

“Every person at the club that is experiencing this situation has sought to continue to do their job despite the problems.

“We are all serious professionals here and have dignity.

“We are talking about principles, which goes from the players to the warehouse men: those who work must be paid.

“Do not forget that this is not only about whether we are able to take to the pitch on Sunday or not, here is a city paralysed by this situation.

“That being said, let’s talk about the good things at Lazio.”

Crespo then admitted he did not expect to see his former side competing for Champions League qualification this season.

“I honestly did not, I thought we could fight for a place in the Europa League,” he continued.

“Credit should be given about the work that has been done so far, and especially the job done by [Stefano] Pioli.

“Then there is the phenomenon of Felipe Anderson that makes everything more simple.”
