AC Milan midfielder Nigel de Jong is evaluating his future and demands clarity and a clear plan from the club, if the Rossoneri wish for him to renew his expiring contract.

The 30-year-old Dutch international has a contract running until June 30 this year and has not been his usual self this season, with injuries also playing a role in his form regression.

“I haven’t decided if I am going to renew my contract with Milan and do not know when I will decide,” he told Dutch portal nu.nl.

“The decision could come at the end of April or at the end of the season. I want to understand Milan’s plans in order to return to the greatness of the past years.

“I do not read Italian newspapers or watch Italian TV channels, all of them say what they want. I am focused only on playing well and finishing the season well.

“It is early to say where I will be playing next season. Perhaps at Milan, Ajex or another club. There are several options. I will take my time to make the best possible decision.

“The crisis of Milan? It is a combination of several factors.”

Manchester United seem to be the club most keen on securing the services of the experienced Dutchman, with former Dutch national team coach Louis van Gaal playing an important role in negotiations.
