Domenico Di CarloDomenico Di Carlo lamented his side’s poor finishing and insisted that his Cesena side did not play to their normal standards after falling to a 1-0 home defeat to Roma on Sunday evening.

The Cavallucci Marini dominated the contest for long periods of the game, but were unable to find a breakthrough against a Roma team which has struggled badly of late, as Daniele De Rossi struck late into the first half.

“Without [Davide] Succi we tried to change and play [Carlos] Carbonero and [Grégoire] Defrel wide, so that we could have width and to give depth to the strikers,” Di Carlo explained to the press following the game.

“We were not able to equalize during the match only because our quality in front of goal was not at its usual standard.

“We tried to impose ourselves on the game, but the team struggled when Roma attacked as they are very strong on the break.

“We were there, we were tough and we have demonstrated the ability to keep ourselves up.”

The defeat leaves Cesena second bottom of the Serie A table, five points from safety.
