Eder: Great joy to score on my Italy debut

Eder Antonio Conte ItalyItaly striker Eder expressed his utmost joy at scoring the late equaliser on his debut during the Azzurri’s 2-2 draw against Bulgaria on Saturday evening .

The Azzurri quickly found themselves behind in the first half after conceding two goals within the first 20 minutes despite taking the lead thanks to an own goal from Yordan Minev less than five minutes in.

However they were able to salvage the match thanks to a brilliant strike from the Sampdoria striker who made his debut in the second half.

Eder spoke to Rai after the game, telling of his joy to net straight away.

“It’s a great joy to have scored and I’m really happy to help my teammates.

“Italy have always struggled here, but I am very happy for my first goal in such an important shirt.”

When questioned on the recent controversies surrounding Oriundi players in the national team, the Brazilian born Italian national deemed the debate as unimportant.

“There are no need for these discussions. I respect everyone’s opinion but this controversy is just unnecessary.”
