Fresh reports emerging from Italy state that the impending transfer of goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano from Palermo to Sampdoria has hit a roadblock.

The 29-year-old, who is currently playing for Sampdoria on loan from Palermo, was expected to make a permanent switch to the Blucerchiati in the summer.

In fact, Palermo reportedly even promised a discount on the original transfer fee, which was set at €4.5 million for the former Arsenal player.

However, the recent feud between Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero and his Palermo counterpart, Maurizio Zamparini seems to have jeopardised the deal.

Ferrero alleged that Zamparini sent him threatening text messages following a quarrel regarding the transfer of Paraguay and Palermo midfielder Edgar Barreto. And Zamparini responded to these allegations by branding Ferrero insane.

The hostile environment developed between the two clubs as a consequence has not subdued yet, meaning Viviano is most likely to return back to Palermo at the end of current Serie A season.
