UEFA are investigating Feyenoord and Roma’s Adem Ljajic following the clubs’ Europa League encounter last week which resulted in two suspensions in play.

Feyenoord fans were accused of racist behaviour during a 2-1 loss to Roma last Thursday in Rotterdam, a result that eliminated the Dutch team from the competition, as a banana was thrown at Roma’s Gervinho, forcing a brief delay.

The match was completed, but it was stopped once more when fans threw more projectiles on to the pitch in response to a red card to Feyenoord forward Mitchell te Vrede.

UEFA will convene on March 19 to determine the severity of the sanctions against Feyenoord, if any.

Roma winger Ljajic did not scape UEFA’s scrutiny, either as the 23-year-old faces charges for “provoking spectators” during the match.

The Disciplinary Committee will meet on Wednesday to discuss the player, meaning Ljajic could miss the first leg of Roma’s last-16 encounter with Fiorentina later in the month.

Feyenoord were already fined €15,000 earlier this year for other crowd disturbances.
