Alessandro Florenzi ItalyRoma midfielder Alessandro Florenzi has been ruled out of Italy’s Euro 2016 qualifier against Bulgaria on Saturday evening after picking up an injury.

The Azzurri take on the Balkan nation in Sofia as they attempt to leapfrog Croatia to the top spot of Group H, but they will now have to do it without the versatile 24-year-old.

Florenzi missed Thursday’s training session with the national squad because of a mild strain in his knee, report La Gazzetta dello Sport.

While, according to the report, he will almost certainly not play at the weekend, he may be available to face England during Tuesday’s friendly match.

This development, coupled with Claudio Marchisio’s withdrawal from the squad due to cruciate ligament damage, improves Palermo’s Franco Vazquez chances to win his first cap for La Nazionale following his controversial call up.
