Fiorentina’s Giuseppe Rossi could make his comeback from knee surgery in April.

The 28-year-old had a third operation on his right knee in the fall, and he has not played a minute in Serie A this season.

La Nazione reports that Rossi has been working with John Bonocore, Alessandro Del Piero’s personal trainer, for about two months. The timeline for a return is getting shorter with a target of April now set.

Bonocore specializes in the final stage of recovery, which is often the most delicate. He uses a computer program to determine daily workouts according to the psychological and physical state of the player – something that worked for Del Piero in the past.

Rossi’s last appearance for Fiorentina came in May, a 2-2 draw with Torino. He has been forced to watch games from the stands since then.

The Italy international scored 17 goals last year for La Viola despite numerous injuries throughout the 2013-14 campaign.
