Mario Gomez expressed regrets about how Fiorentina lost out on three valuable points, drawing 2–2 on Sunday night to Udinese.

Fiorentina fell behind in the first half, but quickly overturned the deficit in the second half through Gomez’s brace. Unfortunately for La Viola, defensive lapses allowed Udinese to snatch a point.

The Fiorentina striker spoke after the game, showing his disappointed at his team’s lackadaisical defending during the match.

“There is a lot of regret tonight,” Gomez said to Sky Sport Italia.

“We played badly in the first half and we got it all wrong.

“We returned to the field with a much better attitude [in the second half] but a team fighting for third place cannot concede goals like that.”

“It is not an issue of fatigue, we have a big squad; we simply have to play better.”

Fiorentina fell to sixth in Serie A following the draw to Udinese, making for some patchy form as of late following their humiliating loss to Lazio and last-ditch win against AC Milan.
