Mateo Kovacic - InterInter’s Mateo Kovacic will not feature for his country during the current round of international matches as doctors confirm he has a problem with his cruciate ligament.

The talented 20-year-old, who has 19 caps for Croatia,  has been training with his country for the last few days but has complained of pain in his knee. News of this injury will rock Nerazzurri coach Roberto Mancini as his side continue to struggle for form in Serie A.

“I’ve had to check Kovacic’s knee again because there does appear to be a problem,” said Croatia doctor Boris Nemec to 24sata. “His cruciate ligament is still painful and for that reason he won’t be playing for his country.”

Kovacic joined the San Siro side in 2013 and has already played 70 times for the Milan-based outfit.
