Inter have been linked with a surprise summer move for Monaco’s highly rated young French midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia, although they may struggle to meet the demands of the principality club.

The 22-year-old, who has one full international cap to his name, only joined Monaco in 2013 from Sevilla for a fee believed to have been in the region of €15 million as the Ligue 1 club’s new ownership embarked upon a lavish spending spree.

FcInterNews.it reports that the Nerazzurri have shown an interest in bringing Kondogbia to Serie A, although the website does concede that Monaco’s asking price of €20 million is beyond the current financial capabilities of the Italians.

Moreover, coach Leonardo Jardim is unlikely to give up his prize asset without a fight after losing both James Rodríguez and Radamel Falcao last summer.

Kondogbia came through the youth system at RC Lens where he spent eight years prior to his move to Spain.
