San SiroInter are ready to commit to spending €70 million on renovating the San Siro so that they can takeover the arena with AC Milan eager to build a stadium of their own.

The Nerazzurri have devised a plan that will be presented to City Council in April as they seek to own the iconic venue.

According to Il Sole 24 Ore, Inter want to takeover the stadium for nothing but with a commitment to spend €70m on renovating the stadium and the surrounding area.

Negotiations are still at a preliminary stage and the club and local authorities will meet again in April to discuss matters in greater detail, when the Council will make a decision whether or not to accept Inter’s proposal.

The Nerazzurri are hoping to seal the deal quickly as Giuliano Pisapia’s term in office as mayor of Milan will conclude next year and he will be distracted by the upcoming Expo, and then by another six months of electoral campaigning.

It is not yet known where Inter would be able to raise €70m via a sponsor or if they would have to generate funds by selling players.

While Milan are still in a contract that binds them to playing at the San Siro until 2030, it is believed there will be no problems with regards to cancelling the deal and thus allowing the Nerazzurri to move forward with their plans for the stadium.
