AC Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi said he will keep his head high despite rumours that his job is on the line.
The Rossoneri coach also hopes that his side will put in a good attacking display when Hellas Verona come to visit on March 6.
“We will need to be more ruthless against Verona in the final third but I’m expecting that we will play well” said Inzaghi in the pre-match press conference.
“We have the quality players that we need and they’ve been training well during the week.”
“We can keep talking but all that matters is what happens on the pitch tomorrow.
“Tomorrow is a great opportunity, a win would be a great leap forwards in terms of morale and for our position in the standings.”
Inzaghi also addressed the rumours that he could be replaced on the Milan bench.
“In the dressing room we haven’t heard any of this.”
“I’m used to speculation.
“When somebody does their job in the way that I do mine, then I can carry on with my head held high.”
“I don’t care about what people say about me.
“I’m convinced by my own ideas and way of working, I’m calm.”
Inzaghi also spoke about the different pressures of being a coach compared to the stresses faced as a a player.
“To be a coach is wonderful and I’ve realised in these complicated last few days that I’d like to do the job for another 20 years.”
“I thank my critics, you have reaffirmed my desire to do well in this job.
“Every day, every game you learn something new and this doesn’t stop even after 20 years.
“Even the best coaches have been sacked.
“My thoughts go to our fans and the president, I want to give them some great games to enjoy and some satisfaction with how things are going at Milan.
The Rossoneri coach also spoke about how he hopes to be evaluated at the end of the season.
“I need to be evaluated according to results.”
“I hope that Milan don’t just keep me because I did well as a player but because they believe I can lead a long-term project.
“The club and I are convinced that I can give a lot Milan, I am calm and the management are good with me because they leave me with space to work.”
The 41-year-old went on to address the potential threats that Verona could pose to his Diavolo side.
“They have Luca Toni up front and he’s still playing at a very high standard.”
“I know how they will play, they’ll look to use the counterattack and hit Toni early.
“They deserve lots of respect but we have to worry more about playing well ourselves and making the most of this opportunity to do so.”
