Pelle - Italy v EnglandGraziano Pelle spoke after the 1–1 draw to England at the Juventus Stadium, touching on the oriundi controversy and backing the positive impact of new Italy teammate Eder.

Eder played his second game for the Azzurri, after having scored on his debut in Italy’s 1–1 draw with Bulgaria in Saturday’s EURO 2016 qualifier.

Graziano Pelle, who scored Italy’s opening goal, started against England alongside Eder, and insisted that the Sampdoria man has the quality and drive to represent the Azzurri.

“Whoever plays [for Italy] always wants to prove himself,” Eder said to Rai Sport.

“Eder offers different characteristics and there is a good atmosphere between all of us.

“The [oriundi] controversy does not affect us and it is something for the coach to deal with.”

Pelle also commented on a possible move back to Serie A, suggesting that it would not be on the cards anytime soon.

“My return to Italy? When will the new stadiums arrive in Serie A? By then I might be an old man,” Pelle said.

“I am sure that Serie A will again be a great championship, and Juventus have anticipated the future with their new stadium; the others must follow this example.”
