Juventus are reportedly closing in on Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Axel Witsel as they look to strengthen their midfield this summer.
The 26-year-old, whose current contract with the Russian side is set to expire in June 2017, has apparently been on the Bianconeri’s radar for quite some time now and it seems like the reigning Serie A champions could be one step closer to making an offer for him after suffering a setback in their mission to land talented youngster Marco Verratti from Paris Saint-Germain.
According to TuttoSport, Juventus would be willing to invest around €20 million in the Belgian international, who is valued at around €28 million, which is significantly less than the €50 million price tag PSG have set on Verratti in recent weeks.
The midfielder arrived at Zenit from Benfica in 2012 and has scored three goals and provided one assist in his 19 Russian Premier League appearances this term thus far.
