Claudio Marchisio spoke after his team’s 1–1 away draw against Roma on Monday evening in Serie A, bemoaning not having stretched Juventus’ lead to 12 points.

The Juventus midfielder came in to replace the injured Andrea Pirlo, and helped his side secure a point against second-placed Roma.

Marchisio spoke after the game, praising his team’s effort, but expressed his regrets of not widening the gap between leaders Juventus and the chasing Roma.

“Winning points here [at the Stadio Olimpico] is always very difficult,” Marchisio told Mediaset.

“In analyzing tonight’s match, they are definitely positive things to take away but we regret not having won and stretched our lead.

“Twelve points would have been important even if nine points already represents a good lead.

“At least we managed to maintain the gap and now we move on and focus on the Coppa Italia.”

Juventus opened the scoring but were unable to maintain their lead despite Roma having been down to 10 men. With 13 games to go in the season though, maintain their nine-point lead has awarded Juventus a comfortable margin of error against the Giallorossi.
