Genoa goalkeeper Eugenio Lamanna has revealed that his instinct kicked in when he saved a Carlos Tevez penalty kick in the Rossoblu’s 1-0 away loss to Juventus on Sunday.

The 25-year-old had to come on as a substitute for an injured Mattia Perin in the 52nd minute of the clash with the Bianconeri, doing well to prevent the hosts from adding to their one goal advantage from the first half, and he admits that he’s satisfied with the Grifone’s performance despite the result.

Lamanna spoke to Sky Sport Italia following the defeat to Juventus about his penalty save and Genoa’s performance throughout the match, while also commenting on his willingness to give his all for a spot in the line up.

“I had taken a dive to save Tevez’s penalty without even thinking about it, I just did everything possible to save it,” said the Italian.

“It’s just something that has come natural to me. Our attitude in the game was great, we played the way we wanted by trying to attack Juventus.

“While we had succeeded in playing our game, Juventus used their skills to prevent us from capitalising on all of the chances we created.

“Perin? We both give our maximum effort. Mattia is proving to be worthy of his place, all I can do is train well and be ready for my chance.

“Earning time on the pitch is the main goal of every player, but this year I realised that you can still grow even if you’re not playing in every game.”
