Gabbiadini - Lazio v Napoli - Coppa ItaliaLazio and Napoli played out a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday night in the Coppa Italia.

Miroslav Klose hit the post before giving his side the lead, but the Partenopei reacted after half time and Manolo Gabbiadini made the score equal going into the second leg of the semi-final on April 8.

Just before the 10 minute mark, Klose almost put the hosts ahead when his header from a corner hit the upright and went out for a goal kick.

Napoli’s first threat on the Lazio goal came 10 minutes later when Etrit Berisha saved a Manolo Gabbiadini shot.

Marco Parolo almost broke the deadlock from six yards out but his shot was blasted over the bar and Napoli were let off the hook once again.

The Biancocelesti finally took the lead just after half an hour thanks to 36-year-old Miroslav Klose, when a perfectly placed Antonio Candreva through ball to the German international was slotted away past keeper Andujar and gave the hosts a 1-0 lead.

Gonzalo Higuain nearly equalised for Rafael Benitez’s side but his shot went just wide of the Lazio goal.

Immediately afterwards Napoli almost conceded a second, but thanks to some fantastic defending of a couple of shots on an open goal from Klose and Candreva the score remained 1-0 going into half-time.

The second half got off to a flying start as a David Lopez header his the post before Berisha pulled out a fine save to deny Gabbiadini.

Napoli finally got the goal they had been looking for just before the hour mark when Higuain went around the Lazio keeper and linked well with Gabbiadini, and the 23-year-old made no mistake in passing the ball into the back of the net to equalise for the visitors.

Things started to get heated when Miroslav Klose was fouled which caused a reaction from Lazio coach Stefano Pioli and both sides got involved protesting their opinion.

Klose received a yellow card for more simulation a few minutes later, but thankfully the game calmed down and the last 20 minutes were uneventful, with neither side threatening.
