Lazio defeated Hellas Verona 2-0 at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday night.

Felipe Anderson scored the first goal of the game five minutes into the encounter, before Antonio Candreva doubled the scoreline just before half-time.

The Biancocelesti broke the deadlock early on in the first half through Felipe Anderson’s header which hit the post before going in.

The Gialloblu could’ve had their equaliser through Vangelis Moras soon after, but the Greek’s shot was saved by Federico Marchetti.

The chance signalled the first and last Verona chance of the half, but Lazio showed no signs of stopping and could’ve had their second of the game, only for Francesco Benussi to deny Miroslav Klose’s finish.

Lucas Biglia was next to threaten Benussi’s goal when he saw his shot smack against the crossbar.

The Biancocelesti finally had their second of the game just on the brink of half-time when Antonio Candreva’s perfect free-kick found the net to give Le Aquile a 2-0 lead heading into the break.

Following a calm few minutes at the start of the second half, Lazio hit the woodwork for the second time in the game, when Anderson’s strike from just outside the box slammed against the bar.

The Brazilian was once again at the centre of danger for the hosts, this time he received the ball inside the penalty area but failed to get a shot away due to great defending by Moras.

Benussi was called into action with 10 minutes of the second half remaining when he parried away substitute Keita Balde’s one-on-one, but the Spanish youngster was flagged for offside anyway.

The former Barcelona man came agonsingly close to making it 3-0 two minutes from time, when his shot from a tight angle was tipped over the bar by Benussi.
