Lazio’s Stefano Pioli has earmarked the date of June 7 as being the day for his side’s season to end – with victory in the Coppa Italia final.

His side host Napoli at the Olimpico on Wednesday night as they aim to depose the current champions and reclaim the title they last won with victory over Roma in 2013.

“We are coming in to the game off the back of a good win but we know the game will be tough against a team who are built for the Champions League  and to challenge for the Scudetto,” Pioli told the media. “They beat us recently in the league so we are aware of their threat.

“Napoli are rivals to us in the league and in the Coppa. Next for us is the Coppa and that is all we want to think about. Our desire has always been to end the season on June 7, the day of the final.”

The former Bologna coach also urged the fans to turn out in support of the side in a bid to help them achieve their goals and also praised Felipe Anderson as he continues his return to form after recent niggling injuries.

“We need the fans on Wednesday and then again on Sunday because these are decisive times for us and we are much stronger with them in the stadium. The players deserve the support of the fans,” he added.

“Anderson? There is still room for improvement from him. He has still not quite matured fully but is improving and his consistency is getting better. He must continue to keep working hard every day.”

Lazio are without Stefano Mauri and Federico Marchetti for their clash with Napoli.
