English Premier League side Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing AC Milan midfielder Nigel De Jong when the Dutch international’s contract expires in June.
Manchester United coach Louis van Gaal is said to be a big fan of his compatriot and may see him as the ideal man to add more muscle to his midfield.
Metro report that the 30-year-old is seeking a contract worth €5.5 million per year in order to move to Old Trafford, a figure that van Gaal will urge the Manchester United board to meet.
De Jong has made 80 appearances for the Netherlands national team including under van Gaal at World Cup 2014, and previously played in the Premier League with Manchester United’s rivals Manchester City, making 104 appearances for them.
