Hellas Verona boss Andrea Mandorlini insisted that his side were fully deserving of their draw at AC Milan, that was them achieve it thanks to Nico Lopez’s 95th minute equaliser.

His side had led through Luca Toni’s first half penalty kick but trailed after Jeremy Menez, also from the spot, and Philippe Mexes looked to have rescued the three points for the Diavolo.

Mandorlini told the media afterwards: “We are happy with this result. We wanted to have a good game and we certainly did not deserve to lose. To have won a draw in the final minutes makes us happy and proud.

“We were rewarded for our persistency in those late moments, showed great character and we always had the perception that we could get something from it.”

He also briefly discussed the difficulties faced by their opponents at present and praised his last action hero for his contribution.

“This is not a good time for Milan at present and they look to be effected psychologically and physically but they did well to take the lead yet were unable to close it out,” said Mandorlini. “Lopez? He can turn the tide of a match whenever he comes on, he is fast and clinical.”
