Parma president Giampietro Manenti is adamant that city mayor Federico Pizzarotti has no control over the sale of the Gialloblu despite the politician’s recent statements insinuating otherwise.

Pizzarotti has openly criticised Manenti’s way of running the struggling club in recent days, even pointing out his unfavourable relationship with the Crociati fans, though the Ducali chief insists that these things do not change the fact that he still ultimately decides the team’s future.

Manenti spoke to FCParma.com about all of the reports surrounding him and the sale of the club in recent weeks and confirmed that only him and his representatives can make decisions regarding what to do with Parma.

“If anyone is seriously interested in buying this club then they can contact me or the professionals who represent me,” said the president.

“Mayor Federico Pizzarotti is not the owner of Parma and does not have any kind of permission to deal with the sale of the club.”

While he may not have a say in Parma’s sale, things may be working to the mayor’s advantage as Manenti could be facing even more trouble now that it has been revealed on Tuesday that the club owes around €1.2 million in unpaid Stadio Tardini rent fees that stem back to 2011.
