Chievo boss Rolando Maran has urged his team to give their all on the pitch in their upcoming Serie A clash with Palermo.

The Flying Donkeys will be facing off with the Rosanero at the Stadio Bentegodi on Saturday and the tactician is hoping that his men will be able to show the same determination that they’ve been demonstrating in most of their matches as of late, though he knows that the visitors will be capable of delivering a top performance.

Maran spoke during his pre-match press conference on Friday about what he wants to see from Chievo as they still hunt for salvation and commented on the hard work all of his players have put in during training throughout the week.

“Our recent 3-0 loss to Empoli was just a bad day for us, in a year it won’t be thought about at all,” said the 51-year-old.

“Now we have to be good at delivering our best performance on the field by showing the anger and determination that we’ve always had.

“We have given our attention to certain aspects of the game that can help us do better. Our guarantee to the fans is to do our best and prove that these boys haven’t held back anything on the field.

“There have been vital results that have brought us closer to salvation, but there’s still a ways to go before we get there.

“The statistics must be analysed but it won’t always have an effect on the reality, for example, Palermo have always played well.

“Results at home or on the road don’t really interest me, all I will say is that we have to play very well tomorrow.

“It’s difficult to speak of our salvation because there are still many important matches and I’m not going to convince myself that we’re safe yet.

“Who will I choose to play? I will not say any names, not so much because I don’t want to say who I might choose, but because I want the boys to continue competing.

“Now everyone has an opportunity and I have to make the right choices. On my part, however, I’ll also have to evaluate how certain players have been doing all week and even in previous games.

“There are players who have given me satisfaction, but I will not name anyone until the dust has settled and we have achieved our goals.”
