Vicenzo Montella FiorentinaVincenzo Montella was disappointed with his side’s first half performance after they drew 2-2 against against Udinese at the Stadio Friuli on Sunday night in Serie A.

Molla Wagué had given the home side the lead after a quarter of an hour and the Zebrette had the better of a first half in which la Viola looked off the pace. Mario Gomez turned things around with a quick brace early in the second half, before Panagiotis Kone got Udinese back on terms.

Montella expressed his concerns that Fiorentina had a majority of possession in the first half but lacked urgency and struggled to create chances, while their opponents were much more clinical with the ball.

“The first half was slow, we were predictable,” he told the press.

“Udinese were good in front of goal, but in the second half we did well to equalise and then take the lead. The second goal was the result of naivety.”

“We’ve had a tough run of games recently. We need to take this point and push on with the same enthusiasm.”
