Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella reminded his side that nothing has been won after the Viola’s 2-1 victory away to Juventus in the first leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final.

Mohamed Salah was the inspiration for Fiorentina as he scored either side of Fernando Llorente’s leveller to hand the Bianconeri their first home defeat since April 2013.

Montella though warned, that to make it to the final for the second successive year, they would need to show the same clinical performance come the second leg next month.

“We are happy that we’ve played a great match,” the 40-year-old told Rai.

“Juventus are a dangerous team but I know we want to return to the final and be challenging for a trophy.

“The result helps, but the second-leg will be a difficult game, like it was tonight.

“We got a taste of what is to come, but we have time to access things as we play it in a month, which means we can focus on our other season objectives.”

Since a shock defeat to Parma began the new year, Fiorentina are unbeaten in 12 matches which sees them fighting for Champions League qualification in Serie A as well as fighting for the Coppa Italia and Europa League trophies.

“Since January I have more alternatives, who all make themselves available to me,” Montella said.

“The transfer window was important as we have [Alberto] Gilardino back and we did not expect such a decisive impact from Salah, but we will enjoy the moment and take advantage of it.

“This team is maturing, the players have been together for some time and I understand them better.”
