Granada defender Jeison Murillo admits international compatriot Fredy Guarin played a part in convincing him to join Inter next season.

The 22-year-old Colombian international will join Guarin next season at the Nerazzurri, after confirming he agreed a deal to join the Serie A giants in the summer.

“First of all, I chose Inter because they are a huge club,” Murillo told Mediaset. “Ever since I was little, my family always spoke of Inter.”

“There was a time when [Ivan] Cordoba was here also, which represented something big for the Colombians.

“Guarin told me about Inter, and before I signed, I asked him a few things about the club. He told me that it is a good level and they are aiming for big things in the future.

“There are many high-quality players there such as Palacio, Icardi, Podolski, Shaqiri. Many important players for Inter and for their country.

“I am a serious, no-nonsense defender, that relies on timing, speed and anticipation. I like to sacrifice myself for the team.

“I’ve always played in a defensive four, but at Cadiz I had no problems playing in a back three. I send a hug for the whole Inter family.”
