Napoli have denounced referee Gianpaolo Calvarese’s performance in their 1–1 home draw to Atalanta on Sunday night in Serie A.
Although Atalanta were reduced to 10 men, it was substitute Duvan Zapata who struck late to rescue a point for the Partenopei.
Napoli pilloried the refereeing via the club’s official Twitter account, calling for FIGC chief Carlo Tavecchio to improve the standard of refereeing in Serie A.
“It is a shame,” the Napoli Twitter account read.
“Tavecchio cannot allow the credibility of Serie A to depreciate in this way, with refereeing that distorts the league table.
“In England, this would not have happened.”

Napoli fell to fifth in Serie A following the draw, with both Lazio and Sampdoria leapfrogging them in the table.
