Lorenzo Insigne - NapoliLorenzo Insigne is set to return following a five-month injury lay-off just in time for Napoli’s intriguing season run-in.

The Italian international has been sidelined since November due to cruciate ligament damage, but has declared himself fit as he looks to assist in helping Napoli to a strong end to the campaign.

“I experienced the atmosphere of a game again [against Hellas Verona] and it was a nice feeling, I needed it,” said Insigne in an interview with Corriere dello Sport.

“It’s been a hard few months and I’ve suffered pain, but that’s how it is.

“I must say thanks to Professor Mariani and the medical staff at Napoli, and also those close to me.

“I gave everything in my recovery and wondered how long it would take, but now I feel good and I’m ready.”

Insigne also insisted the club have everything to play for, with important fixtures across three different competitions on the horizon including Serie A.

“Now we cannot give up. For those who play for Napoli there is never an opportunity when you can allow your performance level to drop.

“We’re entering a crucial point in the season, with decisive games such as the quarter-finals of the Europa League and the second leg of the Coppa Italia. We are alive and we will prove it.

“The last few results have gone against us, but they can’t take away from the quality of this fantastic squad.

“The next game is always the most important, so we must focus on Roma.”
