Aurelio De Laurentiis NapoliNapoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has confirmed he intends to renovate the Stadio San Paolo at the end of the season, but has called for the Italian Minister of Interior, Angelino Alfano, to introduce stadium laws similar to those in England.

The outspoken president has recently called to tackle stadium problems in Italy and is amongst a number of presidents who feel that Serie A should introduce English-style laws to crack down on violence and hooliganism.

Stadium ownership and renovation has also been a hot topic in Italy, particularly in the wake of Juventus being the first club to own its stadium, with plans afoot for Roma to follow suit.

“I want to start work from July with my own money,” De Laurentiis said to TuttoNapoli.net.

“But I demand Alfano introduces the same laws as England. Do not make me build new facilities which will only be destroyed by thugs.”

Renovation of the San Paolo would certainly be a boost for Napoli and De Laurentiis has pledged to invest in the project, in the hope that the authorities will re-evaluate stadium policies.
