Lega Serie A, the governing body for Italy’s top flight, have stated that it would be challenging to rescue Parma out of their deepening financial crisis.

Parma have been in the midst of a serious financial crisis since Christmas time, and things getting worse since with the team unable to even sustain the costs of hosting or traveling for their games.

Lega Serie A have admitted of the complicated situation at hand, in terms of saving Parma from going bankrupt, according to Gazzetta dello Sport. The Italian media report that Parma would accrue to an extra €8 million in debts from now until the end of the season in June.

Lega Serie A would look to tap into the parachute payments for dropping down to Serie B, as a last-minute resort to cushion the financial collapse. But for that to happen, Parma must be able to reach the end of the season, which is a complicated issue in itself.

Parma have already had their last two games — against Udinese and Genoa — postponed for failure to fund the stadium costs necessary to host the Zebrette and the travel costs to play the Grifoni.
