Atalanta striker Mauricio Pinilla defended himself following the controversy that erupted around his goal against Napoli on Sunday night in Serie A.
Atalanta, despite having been down a man, opened the scoring through Pinilla. Napoli eventually equalised at the death to make it 1–1, as both teams shared the points.
There were thoughts of a foul having been committed, when Pinilla took the ball from Napoli defender Henrique before darting towards goal, but the Atalanta striker rebuked any such claims.
“I absolutely did not commit a foul,” Pinilla said to Sky Sport Italia.
“I have not touched him and you can see it from the replay.
“I do not know if he just slipped but the play, for me, is valid and so is my goal.
The point is yet another one as Atalanta try to stave off relegation, 17th in the table and five points above the drop zone.
