Pioli - LazioLazio boss Stefano Pioli was satisfied with his team’s performance in the 1-1 Coppa Italia semi-final first-leg against Napoli, but feels they need to be more watchful at set-pieces.

The Aquile went ahead after Miroslav Klose got on the end of a Felipe Anderson through ball, but Gabbiadini equalised from close range after good work from Gonzalo Higuain.

“It is clear that the result favours our opponent [Napoli], but the game is still open,” the tactician told Rai Sport.

“I am satisfied with the performance, and we could have also doubled our advantage.

“However, against big teams you get punished if you don’t close out the game, which is what happened.

“We were careless on dead-ball situations and have to be more careful.

“We tried to get a result until the end, but it didn’t go our way, that’s ok though.

“Napoli have been a team at a high level for years, while we are just starting out journey. We are only thinking one game at a time, so we will see what happens in the second leg.”

Felipe Anderson impressed once more for Lazio and now has six goal and six assists in 19 Serie A matches.

“He is a player of high quality, and he just needs time to develop more,” Pioli went on.

“Now he is getting more continuity [in terms of playing time] and this shows in his awareness.

“But I think he can still improve in the future.”
