Stefano Pioli has denied that his Lazio side have a slight advantage over their rivals as they play their next game against Fiorentina on Monday evening.

The Biancocelesti host the Viola in arguably the most important game of the weekend and Pioli’s men will have the knowledge of how all the other sides fighting for Champions League qualification, something that Pioli feels is irrelevant.

“The league table is congested and we must focus only on winning our own points,” Pioli said at his press conference on Sunday afternoon.

“We have 13 games to give our absolute maximum, the scheduling of the games does not count for anything.

“All that counts is our ability to move forwards in the right direction.

“[Tomorrow’s game] is a vital one as both sides have the same objectives and are enjoying good times.

“[Felipe Anderson against Mohamed Salah] They are both important players, but it is the better team that always wins.

“[Stefano Mauri?] He trained separately yesterday, we’ll see today if he is ready. I would like to have him available for tomorrow.”

The head coach also compared the sides to when they met earlier in the season as Lazio ran out two-nil winners in Florence.

“It was a long time ago, with different players, however the team’s identity remains the same.

“It was difficult for both sides and it will be the same tomorrow.

“We want to give everything to improve our league ranking because we are playing at home.”
