Roma coach Rudi Garcia is proud of his team’s reaction in their 1-1 draw with Juventus at the Stadio Olimpico in Serie A on Monday night.

The Giallorossi were reduced to 10 men in the second half after Vasilis Torosidis received his second yellow card, only for Carlos Tevez to give the Bianconeri the lead from the corresponding free kick; however, Seydou Keita nodded past Gianluigi Buffon to rescue a point for Garcia’s men.

“The team was outstanding,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “Despite the the numerical disadvantage we showed that we have the character and personality to react and make a comeback, it shows that this team is alive.

“The game was very tactical, it was only really decided by two dead ball situations in the end.

“I had to play with three midfielders and two strikers in the end to keep the pressure up, it was risky but it was the only option.”

The Frenchman remained philosophical about the title race, insisting that the priority is to ensure an automatic UEFA Champions League spot as they find themselves nine points off Serie A leaders Juve.

“There are still thirteen games to go,” he stated. “We need to keep working hard and have the mentality that by securing second place, we are keeping an eye on the leaders.”
