Roma are keen to renew the contract of veteran Malian midfielder Seydou Keita after his impressive performances for the Scudetto challengers has started attracting the attention of several Premier League sides.

The 35-year-old, who has previously played for Barcelona and Valencia, is out of contract in June and his important contributions for the Giallorossi this season means that the club’s hierarchy is keen to extend his time in Italy.

Gazzetta dello Sport understands that this issue is a priority for director of sport Walter Sabatini who has already offered a new deal to Keita in the hope of warding off attention from England. It is believed that Roma are optimistic over the chances of a renewal.

Keita has made 19 league appearances for Roma this season, scoring two goals in the process.
