Lille star Rio Mavuba could be in line for a reunion with his former coach Rudi Garcia at Roma as the Giallorossi explore options to strengthen their midfield for next season.
With question marks hanging over Daniele De Rossi and Miralem Pjanic’s futures in the Italian capital and with veteran Seydou Keita only ever considered as a short term option in the middle of the pitch, Roma are likely to be in the market for midfielders come June.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Garcia is keen to reunite with Mavuba who served as his midfield general during his tenure in northern France.
Another option being considered is English international schemer James Milner who’s contract with Manchester City expires at the end of the current campaign.
Mavuba is understood to enjoy a close relationship with Garcia and has previously expressed his desire to work under him again on several occasions.
