Roma are reportedly ready to pursue Benfica defender Maxi Pereira with hopes of landing him this summer.

The 30-year-old, whose current contract with the Eagles is set to expire in June, is apparently unlikely to sign a new deal with the Portuguese side any time soon and it seems like the Giallorossi may be willing to pull out the big guns in order to secure his services in the coming months.

According to A Bola, Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini would be open to offering the Uruguayan international a huge salary to convince him to come to Italy rather than sign a renewal with Benfica, though the exact amount of pay is yet to be confirmed.

Pereira, who has plied his trade as a right back at O Glorioso since joining them from Defensor in 2005, has scored three goals and provided six assists in his 23 Portuguese Primeira Liga appearances this term thus far.
