England captain Wayne Rooney has revealed that he has never been interested in playing in Serie A.
Rooney was speaking ahead of England’s friendly against Italy in Turin and revealed his admiration for a former Serie A great while reiterating he has no intention of transferring to the peninsula.
“I have never thought about playing in Italy.” Rooney told reporters at his pre match press conference.
“There are many great clubs in Italy like Juventus and AC Milan but I am not interested in moving to Serie A.
“When I was growing up I watched Serie A and the great teams like Juve and Inter.
“I really liked Batistuta at Fiorentina, he was a great forward.
“I think English football is in a good moment, we have won all of our Euro 2016 qualification matches.”
