Fiorentina striker Giuseppe Rossi believes a long-awaited return in the Coppa Italia semi final second leg on 7 April would be a dream.

The Viola lead the Bianconeri 2-1 from the first leg, and are 90 minutes away from a showpiece final in May, but Rossi is ambitiously targeting a return much sooner than that date.

However, there is very little chance of the Fiorentina management risking the player, according to La Nazione.

The 28-year-old has long been plagued with injury problems regarding his knee, and is yet to make an appearance this season as he underwent surgery and rehabilitation.

It is also reported that Italy coach Antonio Conte has taken a keen interest in the player’s development, suggesting that he is ready to offer the former Villarreal man a return to international football once he is back on the pitch.

Rossi scored 16 goals from 21 Serie A appearances last season.
