Empoli coach Maurizio Sarri believes that his side picked up a vital point at Palermo, on Sunday afternoon, in their bid to avoid relegation.
The Azzurri earned a hard fought goalless draw at the Stadio Renzo Barbera to move eight points clear of the Serie A relegation zone, with Sarri stating that his side suffered at the beginning of the game.
“It is a valuable point, we suffered at the start of the game because Palermo started the game strongly,” Sarri told Sky Sport Italia.
“Then they began to tire a little physically and we began to take a grip of the situation.
“I thought we could have won, but it is true they posed us problems from the outset, so perhaps the draw is a fair result.”
Empoli remain in 15th place in the Serie A table, whereas the Rosanero lost ground in their unlikely quest to qualify for European football.
