Lazio traveled to the Mapei Stadium Sunday afternoon and came away with a 3-0 victory over Sassuolo

Felipe Anderson, Miroslav Klose and Marco Parolo all found the back of the net, helping Lazio grab all three points and as the race for the final Champions League place hots up.

Lazio came out hard in the first half having the majority of chances.

On the 12th minute mark, Lazio captain Stefano Mauri sends in a great cross in the box towards Spanish striker Keita Balde, who hit a one timer just wide of the net.

But just one minute later, Sassuolo had a great opportunity to take the lead as Italian striker Simone Zaza is sent in on a break away but his attempt is saved beautifully by Federico Marchetti.

Lazio then had another great chance to score at 18 minutes when Argentinian Lucas Biglia sent a great cross over the defence towards Keita who fights his way around defender Paolo Bianco, getting the shot off and forcing a great save from Andrea Consigli.

Lazio looked to then have caught a break just before half-time when Keita is sent in on a breakaway and looked to be taken down in the box by Consigli. The referee blew his whistle and books Keita for diving. The replay shows that Consigli made no contact with Balde and proving the decision of the referee to be correct.

The Biancazzurri finally broke the deadlock right before halftime as Mauri floated in a cross which was not dealt with by Francesco Acerbi, who headed it away straight to the foot of Felipe Anderson at the top of the box, who curled a beautiful shot into the top right corner of Sassuolo’s net.

The second half saw Sassuolo come out quick to find the tying goal.Domenico Berardi played a great back heel pass into the path of a running Zaza, who shot right at Marchetti, forcing a good save from the Italian.

Just four minutes later, Lazio seemed to have doubled their lead as Keita Balde put away a rebound off a shot from Felipe Anderson, but the Spaniard was ruled offside.

Midway through the second period, Felipe Anderson played a great low cross straight to the foot of substitute Miroslav Klose, but the German striker one put his shot just wide right of the net.

Moments later, Felipe Anderson found himself in the exact same scenario, putting in a great low cross again on the foot of Klose, who again put his shot just wide left of Sassuolo’s net.

Finally, the German giant would get his goal on his third try as Felipe Anderson again made a run down the right and played a high cross into the box, which landed perfectly onto the head of Klose who headed past a stranded Consigli.

The Biancocelesti would put the game out of reach for Sassuolo at the 77th minute mark when Felipe Anderson shot outside the 18 deflected off Dutch defender Stefan de Vrij into the path of Marco Parolo who made no mistake and tucked the ball past Consigli and into the back of the net.
