Schalke are reportedly seen as the favourites to land Sampdoria midfielder Roberto Soriano this summer.

The 24-year-old, whose current deal with the Blucerchiati is set to expire in June 2017, has been linked with a possible move to several Serie A clubs once the 2014-15 campaign comes to a close, including AC Milan, but it now seems like his future may be in the Bundesliga with the Miners.

According to the Corriere Mercantile, Schalke are taking serious steps forward in their mission to sign the Italian international even though Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero could demand a fee of around €15 million for his services.

A move to the Royal Blues wouldn’t be the first time the midfielder has played in Germany, as he was born in the country and played in Bayern Munich’s youth academy before joining La Samp’s primavera team in 2009.

Soriano has scored one goal and provided four assists in his 23 Serie A appearances this term thus far.
