schelotto italy Chievo midfielder Ezequiel Schelotto has defended the inclusion of Oriundi  – non Italian-born players – following Sampdoria’s Eder and Palermo’s Franco Vasquez’s inclusion in the Italy squad.

The Argentine-born player is an Oriundo himself after he made one international appearance for Italy in 2012.

“Oriundi? Everybody has their own views on this, when I wore the shirt of the Italian national team I always gave my all, as I did with the Under-21 side,” said Schelotto to Sky Sport Italia.

“The important thing as [Antonio] Conte says, is to give everything for the shirt.”

“I am proud of and happy with what I did with the Azzurri.”

Schelotto also spoke about Chievo’s recent form as the Flying Donkeys have made big strides towards Serie A safety.

“We’re going through a good moment and we need to continue in the same way.”

“After the international break we will have a decisive game against Sassuolo.

“We are a united group, Rolando Maran always encourages us to give our all.

“Only by continuing in the same way we will achieve the joy of survival.”

The 25-year-old was also asked for his thoughts about the financial crisis at Parma.

“I’m really sorry to see what is going on at that club.”

“I still think that last season the club deserved to qualify for the Europa League.

“A city like Parma doesn’t deserve all this.”
