Roberto Soriano has spoken of how he has always felt Italian, despite being born and raised in Germany.
The Sampdoria midfielder has been in fine form this season and played a part in Italy’s 1-1 draw with England at Juventus Stadium on Tuesday night and after the game he revealed his passion for the Azzurri.
“I was born and raised in Germany, but my parents are from Campania and I have always felt Italian,” the 24-year-old told Rai Sport after the game.
“I thank [Antonio] Conte and the team for the advice they gave me, I have given everything for this shirt.”
Soriano also discussed his future at club level, admitting he wanted to stay put for the moment.
“A future [playing] in Germany? I’m having a good season with Sampdoria and I want to continue this form.
“Anything else doesn’t interest me for the moment.”
