Udinese coach Andrea Stramaccioni believes his side deserved to win their clash with Fiorentina on Sunday night at the Stadio Friuli, which ended 2-2.

The Zebrette led in the first half through Molla Wagué but found themselves behind quickly in the second period courtesy of a quickfire brace from Mario Gomez. The Zebrette rallied though and came back to equalise through Panagiotis Kone.

Stramaccioni told the press after the game that he thought his side could have come out on top had it not been for a dramatic three minutes which saw his team concede twice.

“I can’t say I am 100 percent happy satisfied,” he said.

“Those three minutes at the start of the second half cost us.”

“I can’t complain about the first goal, but Gomez’s second was a setback we could have done without.”

The 39-year-old was buoyed by the response of his team to bounce back however, as well as appreciating the vital contribution of Neto in the Fiorentina goal to keep the scores level in a tight second half.

“We reacted well, and if anyone was going to win the game, it was Udinese.”

“I have to praise Neto because he saved his team. I really enjoyed the game, as did the crowd I think.”
