Luca Toni - VeronaHellas Verona striker Luca Toni has revealed that his team’s away victory over Cagliari on Sunday was an important result but insists that more points are needed to finish the season on a high note.

The Gialloblu were able to secure a 2-1 win against their hosts, which has seen them land in 15th place with 28 points, and the 37-year-old, who netted the visiting side’s first goal of the match, admits that the Mastini will need an abundance of positive results as they now prepare for their next Serie A clash against AC Milan on March 7.

Toni spoke to Sky Sport Italia following Hellas Verona’s crucial victory over Cagliari about the importance of earning the three points and commented on the team’s increase in quality in recent weeks.

“It was certainly an important step towards our goal to remain in the Serie A, but now we must still earn as many points as possible,” said the veteran goalscorer.

“Now we will get ready to head to the San Siro to face AC Milan and hopefully play a good game.

“We have become a bit tougher now and have been playing beautifully, we’ve been doing well in the past couple of games.”
