Glik - Torino v NapoliTorino bagged a vital 1-0 win over Napoli at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday evening in Serie A.

It was captain Kamil Glik, with his fifth goal of the season, who sealed the victory, heading home from a corner, which leaves the Granata unbeaten in their last nine matched in all competitions, and their last 12 in Serie A.

It was the home side who looked the more likely early on with Josef Martinez seeing an early effort sail over the crossbar. Fabio Quagliarella was next up as he tried an overhead kick, but it fell straight into the path of Mariano Andujar who parried.

Bruno Peres was having a magical night on the right side, setting up those two opportunities whilst giving Ivan Strini? a torrid evening.

Napoli did have opportunities in the opening period with Jonathan de Guzman and Marek Hamsik going close via long-range efforts.

In the second period, it was Jose Callejon who tried his luck from range, but to no avail.

Then the key moment of the match came when Kalidou Koulibaly sent a 45-yard back pass out for a corner, and from the deadfall situation Glik lost his marker and headed into the far corner.

Gonzalo Higuain had the Partenopei’s best chance of the game but he blasted over from close range, then Manolo Gabbiadini struck the post from a free kick.

As the game came to a close, Napoli pushed for an equaliser, but a sturdy Torino defence stood firm and held on for all three points.
