Udinese president Giampaolo Pozzo has publicly backed Andrea Stramaccioni, following rumours of an ultimatum regarding the coach’s position.

The former Inter tactician has come under pressure in recent weeks following disappointing defeats against Cesena and Lazio, with speculation growing ahead of the visit of Torino on Sunday afternoon, with Pozzo quick to deny defeat could spell the end for Stramaccioni.

“In relation to the press reports of alleged ‘ultimatum’ from the president to the coach Andrea Stramaccioni, Giampaolo Pozzo explains that there is no ultimatum,” a statement read on Udinese’s official website.

“I haven’t spoken to anyone, and journalistic speculation published does not correspond to my thoughts in any way.”

39-year-old Stramaccioni joined the Zebrette in June 2014, following a spell at the helm of the Nerazzurri between March 2012 and May 2013.
