Parma president Giampietro Manenti has been arrested for money laundering after an early morning blitz by the Financial Guard on Wednesday.

The news comes one day before a key meeting regarding the future of the Ducali, with courts in Parma ready to declare the club bankrupt should the president fail to provide the necessary documents regarding the club’s financial security.

However things have taken a stunning turn with Sportsmediaset reporting that Manenti, along with 21 other people, have been arrested in a blitz that was organized by the Financial Guard and Prosecutors in Rome.

Amongst the charges are money laundering, conspiracy to fraud, information fraud, and the use of forged financial documents.

An 11 CET news conference from Rome is set to provide further details on the developing story.
